Session Descriptions

Understanding ADHD – Helps parents understand the biological realities of ADHD and how it affects a child’s development. It simplifies complex brain science into easy‑to‑understand sections, beginning with ADHD as a neurodevelopmental condition rooted in how the brain functions. It also explains executive functioning as the brain’s “management system,” highlighting the thinking skills and doing skills children rely on for everyday success. By breaking these concepts down into accessible language, parents gain a clearer picture of what their child is experiencing and how to support them effectively.

How Can You Help Your Child? Gives parents the practical tools and brain‑based understanding they need to support a child with ADHD. You’ll learn why challenges like forgetfulness, emotional intensity, difficulty starting tasks, and trouble staying organized happen, and what you can do to help. Through simple strategies, visual supports, predictable routines, and step‑by‑step skill‑building, you’ll discover how to become your child’s “external executive function” while they develop their own. The session focuses on realistic expectations, supportive environments, and routines that reduce stress for the whole family. By the end, you’ll feel confident, equipped, and empowered to help your child thrive.

Understanding Educational Rights: IDEA vs Section 504 – Navigating the school system can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. This session gives parents a clear, accessible understanding of the two major federal laws that protect students with disabilities: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). You’ll learn the difference between accommodations and specialized instruction, how 504 plans and IEPs work, and what each one means for your child’s learning experience. By the end of this session, you’ll feel confident understanding whether your child may qualify for a 504 plan or an IEP, how to advocate effectively in school meetings, and what questions to ask to ensure your child receives the support they need to thrive.

Nurturing Brain Health and Neuroplasticity – This course gives parents a clear, science‑based understanding of the everyday habits that help children and teens build stronger, healthier brains. You’ll learn what daily activities can shape brain development—and how simple lifestyle shifts can boost focus, emotional regulation, and resilience. We’ll also explore the factors that can harm the brain, and how to create routines and environments that support long‑term cognitive and emotional well‑being. By the end, you’ll feel confident knowing how to nurture a brain‑healthy home that helps your child thrive.
